This book is a photographic retelling of the story of young rafter Elian Gonzalez's journey for freedom. The book is a compendium of the weekly news coverage provided by LIBRE Newspaper of the effort to allow a young boy to live in freedom, in fulfillment of his mother's dying wish. Elian was a student at Lincoln-Marti for most of one academic year. The aim of this book is to shine a light on the path of freedom and justice for which the mother of this young shipwreck sacrificed her life. The trials and tribulations that this youngster went through will hopefully be avoided by the many Elians that exist today who are victims of captivity, oppression and treason. El Album de Elián Album del peregrinaje por tierras de libertad del pequeño Elian Gonzalez, con una recopilacion de los acontecimientos mas importantes recogidos en la tarea periodistica de nuestro semanario Libre. Los casi cien dias que nos brindaron oportunidad de tratarlo, conocerlo y entenderlo desde las aulas de la escuela Lincoln-Marti, tal vez nos permitan seguir su caso desde una optica mas profunda. Sin animo de alentar la controversia, denunciar culpabilidades o ahondar cicatrices, aspiramos a que el camino de libertad, por cuyo objetivo su madre llego a ofrender su vida, llegue a iluminar el destino de esta pequeño naufrago. Y ojala que su ejemplo vergonzoso sirva para prevenir y evitar el terrrible itinerario de tantos Elianes del mundo victimas del cautiverio, la opresion y la traicion. |
